Battlefield 3 Expansions Deploy For PS3 First

One of the hottest games of the year, Battlefield 3 is getting even sweeter for players on PlayStation 3. Just like the time exclusive map packs on Xbox 360 for Call of Duty. PlayStation 3 will be getting expansions one week before any other platform. "You’ll be happy to know that beginning with our first expansion pack Battlefield 3: Back to Karkand (to be released later this year), all full-blown upcoming expansion packs for the game will appear one week early exclusively on PS3, brought to you by Sony!"

Perhaps this is some sort of compensation for the console versions getting the short end of the stick compared to the PC version.

Enter The Battlefield September 29th

Looks like we were a bit wrong on the date for beta. Just announced, Battlefield 3 will be heading into open beta on September 29th.

Everyone who wants to try out the game will be able to suit up and head into battle. The single map available will be Operation Metro rush map, which takes places in the streets of Paris and an underground subway.

Players who are Battlefield Veterans will unlock the M1911 Pistol and special Battlefield 3 badges. You must be a registered member of the EA Gun Club to unlock these bonuses.

For purchasers of Medal of Honor they will get a 48-hour early access to the Battlefield 3 beta on September 27th, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

This is the same map used for Battlefield 3 alpha (seen above) and probably not the best showcase for the game. Expect huge resistance in the subway with narrow tunnels, giving the defenders an easy advantage, as the attacking side is funneled through these narrow paths, often ending the game at this choke point.

PC players will login via the Battlelog website and launch the game from there. Battlelog is not only a stat tracking website, but the entire portal to the game itself, everything is done through Battelog.

You can read up more on the beta on the official beta site.

Operation Guillotine Deploys 360

Previously we seen a video of Operation Guillotine but shown off as the PC version. DICE for TGS 2011 released a brand new trailer, taken from the Xbox 360 version, with extended footage. As we can see, the game visually still looks fantastic, one of the best on Xbox 360 period. The sound just blows you away and it should! DICE has won several awards for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 in the sound department, with Battlefield 3 building off that, we are in for some serious ear candy. All the explosions, heavy feel, gun play, and sound seems to be very intact, just not as crisp, which is expected, PC versions always have the better visuals. Check out this bad boy video yourself below.

Review: Shadows of the Damned

Checkout the Video Playthrough

The creators behind Shadows of the Damned are some of the biggest in the industry, and the game makes sure to tell you up front. Creators on board are Shinji Mikami (Resident Evil 4), Goichi Suda (Killer 7), and Akira Yamaoka (Silent Hill). In theory this should be one of the greatest video game packages every created, with such top tier talent. Unfortunately a few things hold Shadows of the Damned back, but still with this much talent, it can’t all be bad. Almost directly ripping off gameplay elements from Resident Evil 4, Shadows of the Damned still provides a very fun experience, although short.
