Enter The Battlefield September 29th

Looks like we were a bit wrong on the date for beta. Just announced, Battlefield 3 will be heading into open beta on September 29th.

Everyone who wants to try out the game will be able to suit up and head into battle. The single map available will be Operation Metro rush map, which takes places in the streets of Paris and an underground subway.

Players who are Battlefield Veterans will unlock the M1911 Pistol and special Battlefield 3 badges. You must be a registered member of the EA Gun Club to unlock these bonuses.

For purchasers of Medal of Honor they will get a 48-hour early access to the Battlefield 3 beta on September 27th, for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC.

This is the same map used for Battlefield 3 alpha (seen above) and probably not the best showcase for the game. Expect huge resistance in the subway with narrow tunnels, giving the defenders an easy advantage, as the attacking side is funneled through these narrow paths, often ending the game at this choke point.

PC players will login via the Battlelog website and launch the game from there. Battlelog is not only a stat tracking website, but the entire portal to the game itself, everything is done through Battelog.

You can read up more on the beta on the official beta site.
