Gamestop Opening Copies Of Deus Ex To Keep Coupons From Customers *Update
It seems Gamestop is taking some mighty privileges with the PC version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution. First reported by Gamespy, Gamestop has issued a country wide order to remove all coupons from the video game streaming service OnLive, that would have been good for a free, yes a free copy of the game on their service.
The net has been burning on the topic since these internal documents were leaked, and needless to say it has been anything but positive. Gamestop claims this is a tactic to avoid promoting a competitors service as they try to build their digital distribution channel Impulse and their recent acquisition of Spawn Labs, a game streaming service much like OnLive.
Deceitful much?
Update*
Well it seems today’s events regarding their handling of Deus Ex: Human Revolution has hit critical mass for Gamestop. In an email obtained by Kotaku, it has been issued that the game be pulled off store shelves asthey will be recalled. It seems that Gamestop has had some communication with Square Enix concerning this incident that will seemingly have all copies of the regular version of Deus Ex: Human Revolution returned to their vendor.
Pre-order copies will still be available, though you should be left to wonder whether it’s a great idea to support Gamestop in this particular case (as there are certainly others). This is one of the reasons you should of supported your local game dealers while you had the chance to avoid such predictable, though unfortunate events from coming to be. Giving as much power to any one company is a sure way to create a mess of problems and I highly doubt this is the last time we will see a similar event from this particular company.
Be sure to check back as we update the situation.

I agree, I would certainly get my money back, and go to another better retailer.
