Dishonored a new FPS from Bethesda & Arkane Studios

Dishonored will be a new FPS being developed by Arkane Studios with the full support of Bethesda.  Arkane Studios has brought us games such as Arx Fatalis and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic, these games lacked in publisher support so didn't do as well as hoped.  Bethesda must see something different in this project and is working closely with them in development. Harvey Smith (responsible for the first two Deus Ex games) is also working on the project as co-creative director. Viktor Antonov the designer of Half-Life 2's legendary City 17 is getting involved in the creation of the Dishonored's world.

This sounds like a really impressive line up of devs that could really bring something special to the FPS genre.  The game will focus on infiltration, trap deployment, personal morality, and of course brutal violence.  The game isn't going to be a non-stop action ride, it hopes to be deeper and more consuming.  When morality and choices are available to the player it opens a much larger sense of involvement.  You will be able to approach any situation with a huge variety of options, whether its laying traps and tricking your enemies or just full out over powering them with super natural powers and fire arms, its really going to be up to the player to decide.  These types of games really pull you in and they give you a reason to approach things differently.

As you can see in the pics the world looks incredibly unique, varying from a old world style with really creative original technology.  The game will mostly focus around a single city but it will include a full island too explore.  With the game being about stealth and infiltration I'm sure the lighting of the world will play a huge role in your sneaky maneuvering

Overall its really exciting to see a new IP being created by some big names and studios.  While we all have our favorite titles that we love staying loyal too its important too keep the industry fresh with new ones as well.  I for one really hope this game is as good as it looks and cant wait to get pulled into the world of Dishonored.  The game is scheduled for 2012 for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3.
