Today at 11AM, the staff of Guildford studio were called into a company meeting. They were told by Codemasters that it was proposing to have Guildford shuttered.
According to sources at gamesindustry.biz staff started receiving recruitment emails from a recruitment company.
"The company is proposing to retire from its facility in Guildford, most recently responsible for the shooter Bodycount," from an official statement at Codemasters.
Codemasters also is planning to close down all its strategy and action teams, focusing on it’s successful racing franchises like Dirt. Codemasters Birmingham studios will be adding a second team which former Guildford employees are encouraged to apply to.
Bodycount did extremely poor with a metacritic rating of 53 and probably sold terribly, going up against big titles such as Dead Island.
It’s sad to see more people losing jobs, GCX wishes them the best, I personally know what it’s like to have an entire office shut down.
