EA's NHL12 is gonna knock your teeth out!

EA's next installment in the NHL series is going to feature Steve Stamkos on the cover this year. Stamkos is only 21 years old is one of the fastest growing stars of the NHL.  Stamkos says "I've grown up playing EA SPORTS NHL videogames so it's an honor to be chosen for the cover this year... I love how authentic the game is and thought it was great when I scored a one-knee, one-timer goal as myself in NHL12!"  Keep reading after the break for more info about the game and the new features it will have.

The pics we are seeing look really incredible and they will be enhanced by a new gameplay presentation that is said to create a authentic, fresh new look and feel throughout NHL12.  The presentation will be attempting to mimic real life broadcasts.  Also for the first time ever you will be able to play in the Winter Classic, which this year will be held at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.  Their will also be a all-new EA SPORTS Action Tracker that simulates action and has a shift-by-shift breakdown of stats and key moments.

NHL12 is going to be revamping the "Be a Pro" to let you really experience the legendary moments of your career, shattering records and making a name for yourself in the history of the NHL.  Also the better you play, the more ice time you are going to see. Players will be able to skip to your next shift so you will be in the action as much as possible.

This year will also bring us the return of the NHL10 fighting system but this time you will be able to throw down with those frustrating goalies. Speaking of goalies NHL12 is going to introduce "dynamic goalies" into the game.  Players will be able interact with the goalies and the net, by knocking them or the net out of position depending on how hard they crash.  Let's hope the refs in the game are on top of that and not having the goalie out of the net isn't something that players will be able to exploit like many other hockey games with contactable goalies brought us.

This will also come into play with the "Full Contact Physics Engine" that brings everything on the ice to the game, from the boards to the players to shattering the glass.  The size and physicality of the players will also be emphasized and be a factor for this engine allowing bigger players to really throw their weight around.
